Super Sized LCD Calendar?

So I’m catching up on some news/blog reading, and I see this post: Before & After: Miki’s Super Sized DIY Dry Erase Calendar | Apartment Therapy Chicago. In particular, there’s this trend of oversized calendaring going on lately, and I’m kinda game for a techy version of this:

Small whiteboards: can I do this with google-calendar?

These cute, tiny, hand-scrawled whiteboards aren’t exactly google-calendar compatible. Getting a low-res projector & a custom calendar was my first thought; wouldn’t be hard. Next thought: what about 31 separate panels.. like LCD picture frames? That’s my crazy thought: any takers? Building the server-app wouldn’t be hard – just do some polling & write to an image. Then you’d have to get the right (and cheap) kind of picture frame that has a high-enough res for text.. A little 5×7 would be about right. It would also have to get the images (polling also) from the server, but wifi picture frames are more expensive.. bluetooth, USB perhaps? Then as long as there’s a long-term screen saver, you’re good. How crazy-cool would it be to have these timed right to wipe to a set of pictures or rotate through various calendar-types every minute or 5?!  But at present, I’m not sure anyone would want to spend $931 on 31 480 x 234 resolution screens.
